Just as Mother Nature is deciding to don her designer autumn colours, we take our annual holiday - this year to Pembrokeshire where the wind was blowing a gale and the sharp sun highlighted the leaping white horses that crested every crashing wave. Bliss.
One of the highlights was a visit to Dyffryn Fernant - a delightful garden snuggled at the foot of Dinas Mountain. www.genuslocus.co.uk
By August / September, many gardens are past their peak and looking a little frayed at the edges, but this one boasted drifts of Verbena bonariensis and Anemone x hybrida - it was full of life and colour.
Different areas of the garden flowed together to melt into the Welsh landscape and at every turn there was a little pocket of inspiration, a pot or sculpture.
For the photographer in me it was great fun and as for the gardener… can I stay just a little longer please?
